Description

Boston-born Ebenezer Pemberton pastored a Presbyterian church in New York City for 26 years. During his tenure, the great revivalist George Whitefield came to the city to preach. Pemberton was the only member of the clergy who offered Whitefield his pulpit. As a result, Whitefield came and spoke many times bringing large crowds to Pemberton's church. After his years in New York, Pemberton returned to Boston and pastored the New Brick Church for 23 years until his death in 1777.

This collection of Pemberton's sermons includes a great deal that will be edifying to modern believers. It is also of historic significance as it includes the sermon Pemberton preached at David Brainerd's ordination and one he preached at the time of Whitefield's death.
