Title: Production Manager
Location: Grand Rapids, MI — Remote (U.S.-based) considered, but relocation strongly preferred
Employee Status: Full-time
Role Summary
The success of our mission to provide Christians with spiritually rich and edifying books depends on careful stewardship of our inventory. We are seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and efficient Production Manager to oversee inventory planning, maintain reprint schedules, collaborate with print partners, and ensure timely delivery of both backlist and new release titles that meet or exceed our quality standards.
Sustainable success in the context of significant volume growth and an intentionally small team will require someone who can build systems and processes that handle high volume with minimal manual intervention. The right candidate will use technology to scale productivity and keep operations efficient, while also applying sound judgment to ensure that automation is always backed by thoughtful oversight. Excellence in this role means combining efficiency with discernment, routinely making decisions with significant financial impact.
This position requires balancing lean inventory, just-in-time delivery, sustainable margins, and accurate demand forecasting. The objective is to balance cash flow and availability: minimizing excess inventory while ensuring products remain on hand for customers.
Experience in book manufacturing will be a significant asset. The Production Manager will work closely with a wide range of manufacturing partners to maintain high service levels, secure competitive pricing, and foster long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships that deliver consistently excellent products. They will also collaborate with the creative and editorial teams to ensure each book meets its design and content goals.

- Work with suppliers to develop strategies for troubleshooting accelerated schedules and manufacturing problems.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows with suppliers.

- Demonstrate an interest in book manufacturing and develop a deep knowledge of production terms and methods.
- Demonstrate keen attention to detail for manufacturing techniques and general production quality.
- Facilitate the finalization of specifications for new publications, solicit quotes from printers, and place print orders.
- Manage the reprint process for backlist publications: analyze sales trends, maintain stock availability, identify opportunities for format or supplier changes, and operate in alignment with financial goals.
- Maintain quality control by inspecting shipments received from printers, identifying defective products, and working with suppliers on appropriate solutions to any problems.
- Keep meticulous records on product details, quotes, print orders, supplier information, and other information
Inventory Management
- Manage a system for monitoring inventory levels and ensure we are meeting product availability goals.
- Exercise good judgment and resource stewardship by maintaining sustainable margins and operating within broader given financial parameters.
- Help develop and refine just-in-time delivery strategies and ensure we are meeting inventory turnover targets.
- Assist in demand forecasting and anticipate supply implications for high-volume seasons and promotional efforts.
- Help coordinate with the operations team on scheduled deliveries, anticipated inventory levels, and projected sales.

Title: Store Manager & Ministry Ambassador
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Employee Status: Full-time
Overview
Reformation Heritage Books (RHB) operates a unique retail store at the front of our Grand Rapids warehouse. More than a sales floor, the store is a showcase of the ministry — a place where authors, publishers, donors, and friends of the ministry experience RHB firsthand. We are seeking a Store Manager & Ministry Ambassador who will combine operational excellence with vision, hospitality, and creativity, ensuring that every interaction in the store embodies the mission of RHB.
Purpose of the Role
This is not a typical retail manager role. While daily responsibilities include overseeing transactions, stocking, and customer service, the greater calling is to create a welcoming, inspiring, and memorable experience that represents RHB to the world. The store is a front door to our ministry and publishing work. The right leader will steward it as a key ‘brand’ touchpoint and leverage it as a platform for events, author visits, and content creation.
Key Responsibilities
Ministry Representation & Hospitality
- Serve as the face of RHB for visiting authors, donors, publishers, and local customers.
- Ensure the store atmosphere reflects the values and excellence of the organization.
- Provide warm, knowledgeable, mission-minded service to all who enter.
Store Operations
- Manage daily retail operations, including point-of-sale, stocking, displays, and inventory management.
- Oversee cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the store.
- Implement efficient processes for reordering, merchandising, and product placement.
Events & Content Marketing
- Develop and execute in-store author events, lectures, and book launches.
- Collaborate with RHB’s marketing team to capture event content for online distribution.
- Create opportunities for the store to serve as a hub of engagement with the broader community.
Leadership & Vision
- Think creatively about how the store can continually evolve as a ministry showcase.
- Work closely with the leadership team to align the store with organizational priorities.
- Lead part-time staff or volunteers as needed to maintain excellent service and coverage.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in retail management, hospitality, or customer-facing leadership roles.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a gift for creating positive, memorable experiences.
- Visionary mindset — able to see beyond transactions to the store’s role in building the reputation of the ministry.
- Organizational and operational skills to run a retail operation efficiently.
- Comfort with hosting events, working with authors/publishers, and collaborating on media projects.
- A personal alignment with RHB’s mission and values.
Compensation and Relocation
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
- Healthcare, retirement, vacation, and PTO.
- Relocation assistance available for the right candidate.
