This book contains the last speeches and testimonies of those who have suffered for the truth in Scotland since the year 1680.
Assembled by the Reformed Presbyterian Church starting in 1697, we are met with the final words and testimonies of over 60 Scottish Martyrs. These beautiful yet sobering testimonies showcase the faith of so many men and women who so boldly glorified their Saviour even in the very face of death. Also included in the book are many illustrations of historically related sights and locations in Scotland.
May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who enabled His people to witness so good a confession for His truth and cause, make these dying speeches useful to animate all the lovers of the reformed religion, with the like Christian magnanimity and resolution, to stand up for its defense against factions endeavoring its overthrow! May He unite us in the way of truth and duty, to strive together for the valuable interests of our religion and liberty!
“Oh! will ye love Him, sirs? Oh! He is well worth the loving, and quitting all for. Oh! for many lives to seal the sweet cause with. If I had as many lives as there are hairs on my head, I would think them all too little to be martyrs for truth. I bless the Lord, I do not suffer unwillingly, nor by constraint; but heartily and cheerfully. Oh! But the Lord hath taken great pains on me, to train me up for this great work. I bless His holy name, that ever He counted me worthy of such honour. His love hath been to me beyond many.” – Last Words of Robert Garnock, Famous Scottish Covenanter martyr.
