Christianity is under massive attack at its Genesis foundations. Without the historical origin of sin and death, the mission of Christ—the ‘last Adam’—becomes lost in a sea of woolly meaninglessness.
Many otherwise sound evangelical leaders, thinking that the only real enemy is ‘Darwinism,’ are being seduced by the promise of ‘progressive creationism.’ Its most prominent voice, astronomer Dr Hugh Ross, has convinced many that here is a biblically sound way to accommodate the ‘facts of science.’
But in what is possibly the most powerful biblical and scientific defense of a straightforward view of Genesis creation to date, Dr Jonathan Sarfati relentlessly exposes and refutes the views of Ross in this monumental 411–page detailed work that ‘leaves no stone unturned’ as he honors the Scripture and dismantles the progressive creationist (and other) compromise positions.
Any reader—thoughtful layperson, theologian or scientist—genuinely willing to honor God’s Word will come to the conclusion (even if unwelcome) that evangelicalism has, in this arena, abandoned its heritage of sound exegesis.
This is a much-needed wake-up call for the church—how can true revival come while we disregard the Bible’s authority in the crucial area of history?

Dr Jonathan Sarfati obtained a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry from the University of Wellington (New Zealand) with two physics papers substituted (nuclear and condensed matter physics), and a Ph.D. in Chemistry. He has co-authored papers in mainstream scientific journals on high-temperature superconductors and selenium-containing ring and cage-shaped molecules.
Dr Sarfati has long been interested in apologetics (the defense of the Christian faith), and co-founded the Wellington Christian Apologetics Society. Since 1996, he has been a research scientist, speaker and writer in Brisbane, Australia.
A former New Zealand Chess Champion and F.I.D.E. Master (FM—International Chess Federation), Dr Sarfati has, blindfolded, mastered up to 12 opponents simultaneously. In print, he is an especially clear communicator.
With his forthright and brilliant clarity, Jonathan Sarfati, author of the acclaimed Refuting Evolution (Volumes 1 & 2) has produced a comprehensive and resounding refutation of the position of the ‘progressive creationist’ ministry Reasons to Believe, and its founder, Dr Hugh Ross … whose views continue to cause massive confusion about science and the Bible.
‘This book is of pivotal importance for overcoming the present confusion on Genesis and science among many Christians who wish to expound faithfully and intelligibly the scriptural texts … with crystal clarity, Dr Sarfati works through the often convoluted arguments of those opposed to a plain reading of Genesis in both the scriptural and scientific arenas … some of the most convincing answers I have yet seen.’ - Dr Douglas Kelly, Professor of Systematic Theology
