Any regular attendee at School concerts will have heard countless renditions of 'Any dream will do'! Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rices' musical 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' has certainly brought awareness of Joseph's name to contemporary society - but has it contributed to our understanding of the historical Joseph, and his role in the Bible's big picture?

Any glance at the first book of the Bible will show that, in terms of sheer space, the story of Joseph is of some considerable importance.

Although no tribe is named after him, and the Messiah is not descended from him, Joseph nonetheless occupies a crucial role in the Bible's drama of redemption. Ultimately Joseph's story is about God's intention to save, not just Joseph's family, but bringing through Judah a saviour for the world.

Jesus taught us that the key to unlocking the whole Bible is to see it as a book about himself. Every story whispers his name.

Endorsements

"The story of Joseph is a great symphony on the theme of God's providence. But a symphony can only be brought to life by a skilled expert who understands and can interpret all the nuances of the music. Enter Liam Goligher and we know the music is in safe hands. In his hands the Joseph Symphony intrigues, delights, and captivates our hearts for God and his ways and fills us with admiration for his wise providence. Here is a book to put melody into the way we live the Christian life." - Sinclair B. Ferguson, Associate Preacher, St Peter's Free Church, Dundee

"Taking care to retell Joseph's story as originally set out by the divine author, this book is a gripping read. But, of course, it is so much more than that. It is very encouraging to read from his real-life drama, how God achieved his purpose by using members of a highly dysfunctional family..This book is easily accessible to someone with little or no biblical knowledge, and is also stimulating to others who have travelled this way many times before." - Evangelicals Now

"In this book, Liam Goligher brings the story of Joseph to life, showing what we can learn about God, his purposes and the way he works in our lives. One point that is made over and over again that even when God appears to absent ...nevertheless he is always there and always in control, regardless of appearances to the contrary." - Keswick Convention

"Here's an excellent, insightful and contemporary introduction to an ancient ‘soap opera': a family's fortunes that have turned the course of history, by the astonishing grace and providence of God, through their greatest relative, Jesus the Saviour of the world. Highly recommended!" - Steve Brady, Principal, Moorlands College
