Description

In an age of family breakdown, loneliness, and insecurity, we need more than ever to grasp the meaning of being sons and daughters of our heavenly Father. Surprisingly, theologians have devoted little attention to the biblical teaching on adoption. This book views the many facets of God’s saving grace through the lens of the Bible’s family imagery. Combining careful exegesis with gripping personal stories of father-child relationships, Robert A. Peterson brings home the warmth and wonder of biblical adoption.

Endorsements

"A splendid book on a subject of great importance. With rare skill Robert Peterson marries clear biblical teaching with deep pastoral concern in a style that is both simple and engaging. Its pages are punctuated by the personal testimonies of lives radically transformed by the discovery that they have been adopted into God’s family." — Sinclair Ferguson

"Here you have a magnificent Bible theme, a meticulous study criss-crossing the territory thoroughly, and everything earthed in real life. And it’s good." — J. I. Packer

"I’ve just finished reading Robert Peterson’s book. Wow! I knew I was an adopted child of God, but I never thought about it so deeply or rejoiced over it so fully. A book to be read by every Christian, it will ‘ wash your soul out’, and you will laugh and dance in the presence of your Father." — Steve Brown

"With a scholar’s mind and a father’s heart Robert Peterson provides a wonderfully pastoral explanation of the love, assurance, and power in the Bible’s teaching that God makes wayward sinners his own cherished children forever. Tender words about a magnificent truth." — Bryan Chapell
