The Fear of God
Description
Publisher's Description: John Bunyan is the author of Pilgrim's Progress, which is the most widely read and published book in the world, next to the Bible itself. But he wrote and preached much more than that: his collected works take up 3 large volumes. One of his finest works is Treatise on the Fear of God, first published in 1679. This edition has been completely retypeset for easier reading, and includes an outline and study guide.
About the Author
John Bunyan (1628-1688)was born at Elstow, near Bedford, in England. In 1649 his wife gave him copies of Arthur Dent's Plain Man's Pathway to Heaven and Lewis Bayly's The Practice of Piety. Bunyan attributed much of his spiritual journey to those two works. Bunyan spent much time in jail for his preaching, lasting intermittently from 1660-1672. It was during his imprisonment, however, that he penned most of his works, including his famous Pilgrim's Progress. He died in 1688 and was buried at the nonconformist's burial ground in London known as Bunhill Fields.
