Each volume in this series is composed of two separate works: A Synposis of Interpreters, both Critical and Otherwise, of the Sacred Scriptures and Annotations upon the Holy Bible. In the Synopsis Poole presents something of averse-by-verse history of interpretation, setting forth the most important interpreters and their positions. The Annotations, on the other hand, give a summary of the most important interpretive issues and Poole’s own, most mature judgment. In these volumes, the Annotations have been interspliced into the translation of the Synopsis, creatingan omnibus of Poole’s exegetical efforts.
