It constantly seeks to increase its power in every area and sphere of our lives. Romans 13 is often appealed to by those who allege the Christian is to give unquestioned obedience to the civil government. But, we must ask ourselves, is this what this text says? This title, written in 1653 demonstrates, from Romans 13, that the magistrate is ordained by God and is to rule according to the rules of God and His Christ. He demonstrates that the Lord is Head of the Church and the civil government does not have the power, right, or authority to usurp his rule.

I believe that Romans Chapter 13:1-7 is interpreted incorrectly by most pastors today and espoused to their congregations as a way to legitimize the fact that 99% of these churches have contracted with the secular government and willingly given up some basis rights in exchange for privileges from the government which these same churches fell are necessary for their survival - as if the power of Jesus Christ alone is inadequate and falls short! This book demonstrates that we owe allegiance and obediance to government only when that government strives to obey GOD, and not secular humanism.
