Philpot was the pastor of Strict Baptist chapels in England and editor of the Gospel Standard magazine. Although he preached over a hundred years ago, his sermons are still widely read throughout the English speaking world and in the Netherlands where they have been translated. Volume two includes the popular sermon "Heir of Heaven Walking in Darkness and Heir of Hell Walking in Light" and "Winter Afore Harvest or the Soul's Growth in Grace."
