Product Description

The Dutch Translation Society has now released the second of the four volume English translation of Herman Bavinck’s Gereformeerde Dogmatiek. Translated by the late John Vriend and edited by John Bolt, this edition of Bavinck’s Reformed Dogmatics is a great boon to English-speaking theological circles. This edition provides all of Bavinck’s footnotes and bibliographic materials. The second volume covers the doctrines of God and His creation. Concerning God, Bavinck discusses His incomprehensibility, names, attributes, tri-unity, and counsel. Regarding creation, Bavinck considers heaven and earth; the origin, nature, and destiny of humans; as well as providence. New headings, subheadings, and chapter summaries are prepared by the editor.

Author  Herman Bavinck (1854–1921) succeeded Abraham Kuyper as professor of systematic theology at the Free University in Amsterdam in 1902. His Reformed Dogmatics is a standard text for modern Reformed theology.

Endorsements  "Bavinck was a man of giant mind, vast learning, ageless wisdom, and great expository skill. Solid but lucid, demanding but satisfying, broad and deep and sharp and stabilizing, Bavinck's magisterial Reformed Dogmatics remains after a century the supreme achievement of its kind." - J. I. Packer, Regent College
