Here are two brief but forceful works by the famous American Puritan John Cotton. On Psalmody, Cotton addresses the duty of singing Psalms with a lively voice, touching also on those called to sing them and the manner in which they are to be sung. The second piece is Cotton’s defense of the Christian Sabbath.
