Originally published in 1859 as The Elements of Moral Science, this reprint of A Practical View of Christian Ethics complements John L. Dagg’s earlier manuals on theology and church order. While those two earlier works chiefly treat the internal principles and formal organization of Christianity, this volume gives guidance in the external manifestation of Christian duty.

J.L Dagg (1794–1884), born in Loudoun County, Virginia, lived to be over 90 years old. He died in June 1884, as one of the most respected men in American Baptist life, and remains one of the most profound thinkers produced by his denomination.
