A Guide to Goe to God:
Or,
An Explanation of the Perfect Pattern of Prayer,
The Lord Prayer.
In the Westminster Confession of Faith, as well as other confessions, the petitions of the Lord’s Prayer were seen as patterns for our own prayer lives. In this book, Gouge opens up the Lord’s Prayer in great detail and demonstrates, with theological soundness and pastoral sensitivity, the usefulness of this pattern to help fuel our own prayer lives.
Author William Gouge (1575–1653) was an English clergyman and author. He was a minister and preacher at St Ann Blackfriars for 45 years, from 1608, and a member of the Westminster Assembly from 1643.
Endorsement "This series makes available afresh in handsome facsimile editions the thought of learned men who wrestled with perennial questions about the nature of God, the nature of man, and the nature of their relationship; it includes influential attempts to wrestle with the relationship of church and state, and of state action and individual conscience. What is more, it includes many examples of public writing and of private reflection and personal correspondence. Because the matters of these books raise perennial questions, they speak to us just as much as to past generations." - Rev. Prof. John Morrill, FBA, Professor of British and Irish History, University of Cambridge
