Thomas Cranmer (1533-1556) was Archbishop of Canterbury and a leading proponent of the Reformation in England. Convinced that the Roman Catholic Church had distorted the true teaching of the Lord’s Supper, Cranmer wrote this book as a refutation its idolatrous Mass. He appeals to Scripture as his authority and even takes into account the practice and faith of the early church, challenging Rome on such issues as transubstantiation, the physical presence of Christ, unbelievers eating and drinking Christ, and sacrificing Christ anew.
