Product Description

 Dear friends,

In 2000, the Dutch Reformed Translation Society appointed me as chairman of a subcommittee that was to investigate the possibility of translating and publishing a number of Reformed spirituality classics from the Dutch Further Reformation (De Nadere Reformatie )—a movement that paralleled the historical and spiritual development of English Puritanism in the seventeenth century. Prior to that point, only a few of these classics had been translated from Dutch to English over the centuries, unlike Puritan books, of which thousands of titles had been translated from English into Dutch. After consulting with a team of scholars in the Netherlands, two sets of four volumes each of great Dutch Reformed spirituality classics were selected and translated. Godefridus Udemans’s Practice of Faith, Hope, and Love  (see previous page) completes the publication of these eight Dutch Further Reformation volumes.

Jean Taffin, The Marks of God’s Children

Jacobus Koelman, The Duties of Parents

Gisbertus Voetius and Johannes Hoornbeeck, Spiritual Desertion

Willem Teellinck, The Path of True Godliness

William Schortinghuis, Essential Truths in the Heart of a Christian

Jodocus van Lodenstein, A Spiritual Appeal to Christ’s Bride

Guilelmus Saldenus and Wilhelmus . Brakel, In Remembrance of Him: Profiting from the Lord’s Supper

Godefridus Udemans, The Practice of Faith, Hope, and Love

To celebrate the completion of this major task, Reformation Heritage Books is offering a 40% discount on a set of these eight titles. Together they retail for $125 and we are offering the set for $75. Buy a set for yourself, and another set or two for your pastor and/or a good friend. You won’t be sorry! Being freshly and beautifully translated, these books read like Puritan works, only they are written in a contemporary style. Packed full of wisdom, they offer a balance of doctrine and piety as well as theology and life that has seldom been equaled in church history. Prayerfully read this set of books, if you want to:

• shape your life by Scripture,

• know the Triune God better,

• focus on Christ more thoroughly and profoundly,

• grow in holiness and spirituality,

• deepen your ability to cope with trials in a God-fearing way,

• learn like Caleb how to live fully for God (Num. 14:24) with head, heart, and hand, and

• live increasingly in coram Deo  (in the face and presence of God) and in the light of eternity.

Wishing you every blessing upon your Christian reading in 2013,

Joel R. Beeke
